From Black To Blonde

Posted on November 16th, 2009 in Colour, Colour Correction, Hair, Women by Heathen

As you know I have been gradually working a friend from a black dye job (over previously lightened hair) to a blonde colour.

She has been a challenge since she was so chemically treated to begin with, and is also hispanic, which  tends to make the hair want to go a brassy orange rather than blonde.

But here she is, a very lovely honey blonde.

Homemade Brush Cleanser Recipe

Posted on November 4th, 2009 in Make Up, Recipe by Heathen

1 c. distilled water

.25 c alcohol (90%+)

.5 tbsp liquid dish soap

.5 tbsp gentle shampoo (baby shampoo is a great choice)

1 tbsp of a spray in liquid leave in conditioner

Mix these together by stirring gently (you don’t want your detergents to start foaming up), and pour in to the bottle of your choice.

I find this is a great replacement for my MAC brush cleanser and much cheaper as well.

Fun with Colour

A couple of weeks ago I decided to cut off all the hair I had been trying to grow out.  I really liked the cut, but wasn’t sure what to do with the colour.  Then last week I decided the perfect thing would be to colour it nice and dark and add some popping bright fuschia highlights.

Here is the before colour (but with the new haircut)

Colour Correction

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in Colour Correction, Hair, Women by Heathen

By far the hardest thing for most stylists is colour correction.   There are so many other factors in hair colour than just picking a colour out of a swatch book, throwing it on someone’s head, and getting the results that you wanted.

Here is a classmate of mine.  She had put black colour over her previous platimum blonde heavy weave.  Now she is wanting to go back to her natural hair colour.  The process took several hours and included tint remover, Redken’s Colour Fusion, and Shades EQ for toning.

Here is the before shot. You can see about 1.5 of natural regrowth and her black colour.

Now, she is wanting to work in a few caramel / honey highlights so keep stopping by to see the updates.

Here is a lovely young woman getting some blonde highlights before her first day of high school.  How exciting!
